Rewielding of the Axe

After abandoning my guitar for some time due to loss of interest for some unknown reason, I have now found back the interest to pick it up, caress it, and finger it…emmm emmm…got a new band too…its called Short-lived. Previously we were called UMERY but due to no initiative from anybody to jam haha and due to the fact that nobody in the band remembers what UMERY stands for so Julian and the rest decided to just drop that name. I’m pretty happy with the lineup, Chun Fei on drums, Dillion on vocals, Ken on bass, and finally Julian and I on guitars. Previously we had no bassist so Julian had to change roles and play the bass…but I felt Julian should focus on the guitar so we had to find a bassist. Fortunately for us, Ken has decided to play for us and we now have all full members.

Last Saturday, Julian, Ken and I went to Bentley in the Courts Mammoth building near The Curve. Julian sort of decided to buy himself a new guitar so we went to give him “support and to persuade him to buy one” haha…The new Bentley branch looks nice and have a decent range of guitars. However I noticed that there weren’t any BOSS effects at the branch. In fact there wasn’t a huge range of effects available at the branch. The Bukit Bintang branch seems to carry more effects. Same goes for pickups, BB branch seems to have a bit more variety compared to this branch. Nonetheless, it is conveniently located and there will be ample parking bays, if not at the Courts Mammoth building then Tesco or Ikano.

Anyway, after looking around and testing out a few guitars, Julian finally gave in to the “Voice” and bought a brand new guitar kekek…you can read about the details here. Going to Bentley was quite fun, it was the first time I played a Telecaster, and I must say I like how it sounds. If I had the cash to splash, I would definitely get one Telecaster just to add to my collection. I also played the Hello Kitty guitar just to see how it sounds, hahaha…it sounds alright I guess haha…check the video out…even Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park used the guitar in one of their live performances.

Check this out too…

After the trip to Bentley I have decided to get myself a pair of Seymour Duncan pickups in the near future when I have some cash…So Julian can this be counted as taking one for the band? Haha…
